Our change of command at hsl 49

well today we had our change of command where we get a new commanding officer of our squadron our old CO was commander connelly and our new CO is our old executive officer commander Frazier which i think will be a excellent commanding officer I'm glad its all over with because there is so much work in getting the building and everything ready for the change we had to paint everything get everything set up for the ceremony and had to get our full dress whites ready all for about an hr and a half long ceremony the old CO had a speech and had a guest speaker the captain of the uss boxer and then the old CO read his new orders saying that he was to report to a different command and wait till he is properly relieved by his replacement and so after his orders were read the new CO read his orders saying that he was supposed to take command at hsl 49 and relieve the old CO after he was done reading he turned to the old CO and says " i properly relieve you of your duties" the old CO salutes and says " I stand relieved" and then it's official that the new CO has command from that moment until he is relieved which will be about a yr to a yr and 3 months approximately then they had the band play and the retirement of the colors (the united states flag) and the ceremony was over of course we had to stand at attention the whole time and only one person passed out usually there are a few but i guess we got lucky this year the helicopter looked very nice it had the torpedo and the missiles and the .50 Cal machine gun on there which i have pics of below and the best part of it is we got the rest of the day off and Fri off which is always nice
